Sarah Amos, a master printmaker, is originally from Australia. Her new work is a series of paper tapestries incorporating gouache, pencil, watercolor and charcoal—a process of richly layered printmaking with over-painting. Her visual vocabulary demonstrates a consistent allegiance to her heritage and cultural awareness; in this new series of works, the marks have become more complex, and the spatial sense shifts dramatically. The works reference her native landscape, while interjecting personal observations of man’s impact and influence on the land.

Amos immigrated to the United States in the early 1990s and began working with Vermont Studio Center where she was the master printer. She has been faculty at Dartmouth, RISD, Bennington and Williams College. In 2005 she was invited as a Fellow for an internship in Venice to do printmaking, and to teach, and she frequently collaborates with the Great River Arts Institute in Vermont as faculty for their printmaking programs. Her work appears in numerous private and corporate collections, and she is represented by galleries throughout the United States and inAustralia.
